Rolls-Royce Corniche V

The 2000 Rolls-Royce Corniche was a two-door, four-passenger automobile. Rolls-Royce's flagship car, it was the fifth car to bear the Corniche name on its debut in January 2000. At the time of its release, it was the most expensive vehicle offered by Rolls-Royce, with a base price of US$359,900. Styling cues were taken from the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph sedan, but it shares little mechanically with that BMW-engined car. Instead, the Corniche's body was set onto the older platform used for the similarly-styled Bentley Azure, making it the first and last Rolls-Royce descended from a Bentley rather than the other way around. Rolls-Royce Phantom VI ........

The Phantom VI was an ultra-exclusive Rolls-Royce model produced in London at Mulliner Park Ward. It was made from 1968-1991. Though it had been expressed that the days of motor cars of the like of the Rolls-Royce Phantom V were undoubtedly numbered, in 1968 Rolls-Royce launched the Phantom VI as a logical progression keeping up the high standards set in the past. The Phantom VI had a re-styled facia and was powered by an engine developed from that of the current Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. An increase in capacity to 6,750 cc in 1979 was coupled with the introduction of a 3-speed automatic transmission instead of the previously employed 4-speed automatic gearbox. Read more....

Rolls-Royce Phantom I .......

The Phantom was Rolls-Royce's replacement for the original Silver Ghost. Like the famed Ghost, the Phantom was constructed both in the United Kingdom and United States, with the US model trailing the UK by one year on introduction and two in replacement.

One major improvement over the Silver Ghost was the new pushrod-OHV straight-6 engine. Constructed as three groups of two cylinders with detachable heads (state of the art at the time), the large engine produced excellent power to pull the large heavy car. The engine used a 4¼ in (107.9 mm) bore and long 5½ in (139.7 mm) stroke for a total of 7.7 L (7668 cc/467 in³) of displacement. Aluminum was substituted for cast iron in the cylinder heads in 1928. Rolls-Royce V-8 (1905)......

The Rolls-Royce V-8 was a car produced by Rolls-Royce in 1905 intended to compete with the then popular electric cars used in towns. Claude Johnson, business partner of C. S. Rolls suggested there would be a market for an internal combustion engined car that could take on the electric car market. To do this it would have to be silent, free of vibration and smoke free. The engine would also have to be mounted under the car to give the appearance of a town brougham and so needed to be very shallow. To do this Henry Royce designed a completely new engine in the form of a 90 degree, side valve, 3,535 cc (215.7 cu in), V-8.[2] To reduce fumes the then common drip lubrication was replaced by a pressure system. The power also seems to have been limited to maximise smooth running. Read more.......

Rolls-Royce 25/30......

The Rolls-Royce 25/30 built between 1936 and 1938 is an updated version of the 20/25 with larger engine to provide more power, as often, over-large bodies had been fitted to the earlier model leading to complaints about its performance.[2]

The in-line 6 cylinder, overhead valve, engine is similar to that used in the 20/25 but increased in capacity to 4257 cc by increasing the bore from 3.25 inches (82.6 mm) to 3.5 inches (88.9 mm) with the stroke remaining at 4.5 inches (114.3 mm). The compression ratio is 6:1. A single proprietary Stromberg downdraught carburettor replaced the Rolls-Royce one and magneto ignition was no longer fitted but a standby coil was provided.[1] The four speed gearbox is mounted in unit with the engine and a traditional right hand change used. Synchromesh is fitted to third and top gears. Read more.......

A single Rolls-Royce carburettor was used and both coil and magneto ignition were fitted. The four speed gearbox was mounted in unit with the engine and a traditional right hand change used. Chassis no. 60551, registered AX 201, was the car that was originally given the name "Silver Ghost." Other 40/50 hp cars were also given names but the Silver Ghost title was taken up by the press and soon all 40/50s were called by the name, a fact not officially recognised by Rolls-Royce until 1925 when the Phantom range was launched. Rolls-Royce 200EX .....

A Rolls-Royce for the man on the street? Hardly. UK CAR magazine reckons the price tag on the RR4 will touch the £180,000 (US$257,000) mark. That's notably less than the £264,000 potential buyers are asked to part with for a Phantom but Rolls Royce say those who do decide to part with it won't feel the difference in ride or interior quality. The ‘waftability' factor in the RR4 will be just as high thanks to the use of similar air springs as those in the big Phantom.

The RR4 will be revealed in Geneva under the name 200EX concept. It's based on the long-wheel-base BMW 7-Series and will be sharing a few parts with it too. Mostly steel is to be used for its body construction and rearward-opening rear doors will feature. Though official dimensions are not yet released these official pictures of the 200EX show a very spacious rear interior. And so it should be since the whole car is about 5.4 metres (212 inches) long.

This cropped image exemplifies what the Rolls Royce RR4 looks like from the front grille. The company's new design language is evident from the multi-spoke polished grille, retractable Spirit of Ecstasy, two-tone exterior body color and what appears to be LED headlights. At the moment the RR4 is taking up the name 200EX. Rolls Royce has been using the EX suffix for its new concept cars as a throwback to the original 1EX of 1919 which was used as a prototype to test chassis and other engineering solutions. Rolls Royce Pearl White Phantom ......

Project Kahn presents its creative interpretation of the Rolls Royce Phantom. This refashioning has the Phantom dressed in Pearl White and Project Kahn suggests you give this car a go while attending the Oscars or arriving with the proper theatrics at a casino in Monte Carlo. Thanks for the tip, Guys.

As always with Project Kahn, the center of design expression is in the wheels. On this Pearl White Phantom, the wheels are meant to keep Rolls Royce's original badge emblazoned center cap, just in case someone mistakes your newly minted Rolls for a Chevy Caprice bought at a police auction. The 9.5 x 22-inch Kahn Silver Mist Rolls Royce wheels come with a "meticulous diamond polish" to each spoke. These wheels are a drama unto themselves. Read more......

Rolls Royce Phantom Updated for 2009......

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced model updates for the Phantom and the Phantom Extended Wheelbase. They, of course, don't refer to them as facelifts. This is Rolls-Royce. Rolls Royce - Project Kahn Drophead Coupe .....

The folks over at Project Kahn have just sent out some photos of their Project Kahn Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe. Shown in Black Diamond, this version of the two-door was originally introduced back in July.
These new photos show the elegance of the DHC. The model already sold by Rolls Royce is meant to completely encompass the passenger in luxury, privacy, and quiet, while the driver is able to focus on the road with no distraction.
Project Kahn puts a highlight on the car with their Silver Mist wheel. The large, custom alloy measures 9.5" by 22" making it wider than the stock wheels. This is meant to give "a more sporty and aggressive feel." They also have another, darker grey tone wheel available in the same size. The original Rolls Royce center cap fits in the new wheels. Matte Black Rolls-Royce Phantom Menace....

A Rolls Royce Phantom decked out in matte black? Okay, we'll have a look but we can't promise we will like it. After all, ultra-luxury vehicles like a Rolls, with its own distinct styling and baroque design, are not something you can easily take home and re-model yourself.

Some speculation is in order here on this Rolls. Judging by this video, the setting is Southern California and one has to wonder who this car belongs to. A movie star? No, this car screams music industry outlandishness. Probably a hip-hop artist. By the way, is this thing bulletproof?

Rolls Royce RR4 - Spied .....

There have been numerous sightings of the new Baby Rolls-Royce sporting the body of the BMW 7-series, but other than an officially released teaser sketch we have not seen how the eventual styling will look. That was of course until today when our spy photographer caught these fresh shots of the new model which currently carries the code name RR4, giving us a first glimpse of the all-new styling.

The tried and tested design of the larger Phantom saloon clearly acts as the inspiration for this new model. Development cost and time has been saved by the engineers by using parts from BMW’s long-wheelbase 7-series but they will utilize a powerplant that’s uniquely Rolls-Royce. Most of the shared parts will include various electronic components but the car “will have the attributes and behavior of a Rolls-Royce” said Ian Robertson, CEO of Rolls-Royce. Read more......

Rolls-Royce Hyperion - Pininfarina .....

Pininfarina were challenged and commissioned by car collector Roland Hall to create a vehicle that would pay homage to the sumptuous cars of the 1930s, a challenge that is well within the grasp of the Italians specialists. Pininfarina have used their expertise to create special models in the past, some may remember the Ferrari P4/5 based on the Enzo or perhaps even the Scaglietti “K” springs to mind.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe owned by Hall provides the base for the Hyperion, the rear seats of the model are removed leaving enough area to nudge the driving position back an extra 400mm.To accurately depict the styling of the pre-war cars, Pininfarina had to extend the roof which simultaneously shorten the rear end whilst keeping a beautiful array of soft flowing design lines. Closer inspection shows a roofline reminiscent of the Nissan 350Z leading us to believe the Japanese sportscar provides the base with a Rolls Royce Grille attached to the front.

Audi TT RS - 2010

Regardless of almost endless spy pictures and other evidence, Audi stood firm on its denials of the existence of the TT RS. Who can blame them; no automaker ever admits that spy photographers are right. Although now, Audi has said a mouthful regarding the TT RS range. Most of it is already known but the most sought after details are kept mum.

The TT RS will use a five-cylinder 2.5-litre turbo engine for its quattro drivetrain. But here is where it gets a little sketchy. Audi says the car produces "well above 300bhp (224kW)" which is not much to say actually. Another important figure for the performance sector is the 100 km/h (62.14 mph) sprint time. Again details are at best in the grey zone with Audi only committing to saying it needs nowhere near 5 seconds to clock that sprint time. Read more.....

The Gran Turismo production version will likely be very close to the concept, given that a new 5-series is expected in 2010 with a similar face. But the GT is larger than the standard 5-series, by means of an extended wheelbase, and differs in dimensions with the rear seats placed 15 cm (6 inches) higher. Mercedes-Benz E-Class- 2010...

The new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E Class is now official, and like the new C it is significantly cleaner and more beautiful than its predecessor. Available with everything from hyper efficient diesels to monster V8 engine choices, the 2010 E Class should please the whole spectrum of the Benz devout.
The early years of the 21st century brought increasingly complicated designs from all the German luxury car marques, but BMW, Audi, Merc and VW are all going back to nice clean lines coming together in cohesive designs.
With the 2010 E63 AMG available in showrooms this November, the most exciting bread-and-butter Mercedes-Benz motor available in the 2010 E produces an M5-besting 525 bhp from an all new AMG-built V8. Previous E Class models, even those from AMG, have been universally praised for their effortless power, while not exactly winning high marks for handling prowess when compared to competing Bahnstormers from BMW and Audi.
Mercedes-Benz seeks to up the ante in the new E with a 30 percent more rigid chassis and a completely redesigned available air suspension with automatically adjusting shocks and available AWD.
The only transmission choice is a 7 speed conventional automatic, albiet with manual shift controls. Drivers who prefer the feel and control of a conventional manual should look elsewhere.
New luxury features are led by a brand new tired driver nanny system, which will sound an alarm and display a coffee cup in-dash when more than 70 parameters suggest the driver is too tired to continue. Those driving a $60,000 machine with more than 500 horses on tap would do well to maintain maximum alertness and caffeination before stepping behind the wheel in the first place. view
